the Rubicon Project Expands UK & Europe Teams with Appointments of Former AOL and Microsoft Staff

Nina Harvey joins as Account Manager, Publisher Development, UK Julian Savitch-Lee joins as Account Manager, Demand Development, EMEA

LONDON, UK –  1 April, 2010 - the Rubicon Project, the digital advertising technology and data company, continues to expand its European operations with the appointment of Julian Savitch-Lee from Multimap, a mapping website owned by Microsoft and Nina Harvey from AOL. Based in London, they will continue to empower premium Web publishers across Europe to safely, effectively and efficiently monetise their digital advertising inventory through sales channels around the world.

Nina Harvey will be responsible for managing publisher customers in the UK to ensure they fully leverage the Rubicon Project’s REVV for publishers™ digital advertising technology and data platform to ensure they sell every ad impression through the best channel for the right price. Harvey brings the experience of working in the publisher services team for AOL Advertising, and Platform-A and Advertising.com before that.

Julian Savitch-Lee joins the demand team with the responsibility to maximize the Rubicon Project’s relationships with leading online advertising networks across EMEA - matching traffic with network partners based on geographic, contextual, demographic and audience targeting as well as impression volumes. Savitch-Lee will work with Jana Jakovljevic, who joined the Rubicon Project last year from MySpace, to help ad networks plan bookings to maximize performance for both networks and publishers and proactively highlight new opportunities for existing partners.  In his former role at Microsoft, Savitch-Lee monitored and managed delivery and performance for campaigns on Multimap.com.

Commenting on the appointments, Jay Stevens, General Manager and Vice President International at the Rubicon Project, explains, “As we quickly expand the number of premium publishers and leading advertising networks and sales houses we work with across Europe, it’s important to recruit the best talent to manage these relationships to benefit all parties. Nina and Julian bring the experience of working in-house at leading publishers and ad networks along with first-class analytical and account management skills to our partners and customers.”

As New Business Account Manager for AOL Advertising Publisher Services, Harvey was responsible for building business from new and existing display publishers for AOL as well as the negotiation of rates and long-term strategic buys.  She managed inventory demands to ensure campaign delivery, recruited many new partners for AOL’s video and mobile advertising network and handled IASH audits.

Julian Savitch-Lee spent 1.5 years as the senior online traffic executive at Microsoft, helping Multimap’s B2C ad sales team in day-to-day traffic management and ad serving of campaigns.  Prior to that, Savitch-Lee account managed online advertising at Gumtree, owned by eBay.  He created the business case for adding display advertising to the classified site, then managed direct sales and the relationship with eBay’s sales house as well as reporting, testing and ad serving.

Harvey and Savitch-Lee will be based in the Rubicon Project’s London office on Charlotte Street, managing relationships with publishers and ad networks in Europe.  Last week, the Rubicon Project announced plans to expand into France to deliver increased revenue for French premium publishers.

At the end 2009, the Rubicon Project, which has raised more than $42 million in funding to date, announced year over year growth of 270%.  After pioneering ad network optimization in 2007, the company launched its REVV for publishers™ platform in the US and UK in 2009, combining technology, tools, access and integration to deliver a complete yield management optimization solution to premium web publishers. 2009 also marked the company’s first acquisition, of data technology company Others Online, and global expansion into markets on five continents.
