Strutting For A Cause

strut1Team members from the Rubicon Project are gearing up and getting their rescue pooches ready to walk the runaway at Best Friends Animal Society’s Strut Your Mutt event Saturday, September 24th. Thanks to QA Engineer and animal activist, Jack Hautzinger, the Rubicon Renegades will be raising funds and participating in this event for the first time. Jack rescued Mimi (pictured below on the left) from Best Friends Animal Society last year and has been volunteering with BFAS ever since. Funds raised from this event will help support many local non-profit animal rescues as well as the No More Homeless Pets campaign. No More Homeless Pets is a grassroots effort to place dogs and cats who were considered “unadoptable” into good homes, and to reduce the number of unwanted pets through effective spay and neuter programs. Best Friends Animal rescue-5185-m6Society runs the largest no-kill Sanctuary in the US located in Angel Canyon in Kanab, Utah. On any given day the Sanctuary is home to about 2,000 dogs, cats, and other animals that come from shelters and rescues around the country for the special care offered by Best Friends. Most of the animals have special physical or behavioral needs and are cared for by the vets, trainers, and caregivers with whatever they require. The few that are too old or too sick, or who suffered extra trauma, find a home and haven at the Sanctuary and are given care for the rest of their lives. After the mile walk at Pan Pacific Park, Strut Your Mutt participants are in for a fun-filled day! The rescue pooches will be able to take Doggie yoga, hit up the Doggie Spa and see the latest and greatest products showcased in the Canine Café and Doggie Boutique areas. Two paws up for this event!
