the Rubicon Project Goes Corporate (For a Day!)

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

corporateday2There is definitely one thing in common for all of our team members: they work relentlessly to provide the best product, keep our customers and partners happy, and push the company forward. Sometimes, we like to take a moment to not take ourselves too seriously and have fun during the work day (while still getting stuff done of course!). Enter the latest Rubicon Project theme day: the Rubicon Project goes corporate! We all channeled our inner Michael Scott and dressed like corporate clones for a day. It was hilarious to see everyone who usually dresses down come to work in suits and ties, quite the experience! Some people were not even recognizable. Afterwards, we all celebrated at a local karaoke bar and belted out classic rock hits throughout the night. But, one day in suits was enough, and now we are all back to jeans. Sorry corporate America, we don’t envy you!

Kogi Truck Madness

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

kogitruckLast Wednesday proved to be a very exciting day for the Rubicon Project team members in the LA office… the Kogi truck arrived! Our wonderful office manager, Courtney Chapman, hunted down a contact for the truck and for 2 hours peoples stuffed their face with possibly the best Korean bbq tacos in America. It was all you can eat and the boys were really impressive with how many some of them put away! We’re very proud guys. We all know how lucky we are to have catered lunch every day as part of being on the Rubicon Project team but this was extra special for us! We can’t wait for the next round.

Working Hard in London!

Justin Thomas painting in the London office

Justin Thomas painting in the London office

We have expanded across the pond and our team in London is very excited to become part of the Rubicon Project! Since London was our first international office, it was all hands on deck to get it up and running. Point in case, Luke Fenney (Yield Management) and Justin Thomas (Publishers) spent some long hours painting the office together. These guys are a perfect examples of the type of people we like to hire: people who want to help, are team players, and willing to do anything (even paint and move furniture!). Thank you so much to these guys and everyone who helped out with the London office- we couldn’t have done it without you!

Remembering September 11th: Never Forget

Friday, September 11th, 2009

september111It is often said that out of great hardship comes strength. Instead of letting the tragic day tear us apart as a country, we came together as a nation and mourned together, helped each other, and shared memories of the event and of the fallen. It is our saddest day but likely our proudest moment. We showed, as a united country, that freedom is a strength not a weakness and in the face of great tragedy we stop at nothing to come together and hatred cannot tear us apart. Eight years later, we will all likely remember the exact moment when we saw the first plane hit the World Trade Center but more importantly this day will always be a time for us to reflect on what is so great about this nation and its people. Today in the Los Angeles office, we are having a pot luck to share food amongst friends and also raise money for a local non-profit. In the spirit of 9/11, please take a moment wherever you are to share with others (even if it’s just a smile on the street or an email to an friend).

In honor of the fallen (friends of the Rubicon Project family):
Todd Beamer
Scott Weingard

Rubicon Project Team Members: A Passionate Bunch

Ryan Dranginis at the Cape Cod Challenge

Ryan Dranginis at the Cape Cod Challenge

Recently, one of our outstanding team members, Ryan Dranginis, did a 30 mile paddle on an upright paddle board across the Cape Cod Bay. After 9 hours of paddling, it wasn’t the glory of completing a physically draining mission that proved to be the most gratifying. It was the fact that together his team raised over $30,000 dollars for Christopher’s Haven, an organization that provides a home away from home for children and their families who are receiving cancer treatments at the nearby hospital. Christopher’s Haven is a charitable organization that Ryan is passionate about and wanted to help, and our team rallied behind him to help in any way we could. Over the last 2 years, our team members often find causes they are passionate about and sign up for events to raise money. Everything from a walk for Mothers Against Drunk Driving to Team in Training to raise awareness and money for Leukemia, our team members always amaze us with their willingness to do whatever they can to make a difference. Go team!

NYC: Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

nyccommservice31On Thursday, August 27th, the Rubicon Project’s New York team headed to the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital in the Bronx for an afternoon of Rubicon Project sponsored arts and crafts with the children who are currently in the hospital for treatment. Our entire team and the children at the hospital had a phenomenal afternoon full of ice cream, creativity, smiles, and memories. We all learned how to make a mean tissue paper flower and Len perfected his ice cream serving skills. The kids were great: their positive outlook on life and endless energy prove to be a true inspiration to all of us. Also, we got to visit the rooms of children who were too sick to come downstairs for the event so they got to participate too! It was truly a memorable event for all. We would like to thank the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital for helping us plan such a great event!

Quotes from our NYC team about the event:

“Community service helps bring together the Rubicon team to do something outside the office that gives back to our community. It puts a smile on our faces to know that each quarter we have an opportunity to help!” - Ryan Dranginis, Ad Networks

“the Rubicon Project community service day is definitely one of my favorite things about Rubicon. Helping those in need gives you such a great perspective on life and what’s really important. I am so proud to be part of a company that gives back to the community. At the same time, it’s a great way to refresh your mind at work because it pushes me to work relentlessly for a company that gives me opportunities to participate in these kinds of activities.” -Jesse Rogowsky, Publishers

“Hanging out with the kids from the hospital was wonderful.  The kids were surprisingly happy and energetic.  They painted a lot smiley faces, words like ‘live, laugh & love’ or ‘be happy’.  It’s amazing to see how happy and hopeful they are considering the situation they are in – very heartwarming.” -Casey Steele, Publishers

“Working with sick children helps me stay humble…. making them smile keeps me grateful!” -Len DiCosola, Publishers

“Spending time with the kids at the hospital really gives you perspective into what’s truly important.  The kids had a great time and I know we all had a great time as well. It was a win-win situation. The flowers and painting were a hit! Also, Lenny’s professional ice cream serving skills really shined!” -Mike Baumwoll, Publishers
